The Blue Arrow Circuit is a moderately challenging walk through Mount Whitfield Conservation Park, about 5 km from Cairns city centre. This roughly 6 km loop gives a fuller rainforest and ridge experience than the short Red Arrow climb, with coastal glimpses and a half-day feel when humidity is high.

Track notes
Starting from Collins Avenue near the Cairns Botanic Gardens, Blue Arrow begins about halfway around the Red Arrow Circuit. Expect a steep early climb to the first lookout, then a circuit that can be walked in either direction.
The right branch passes through rainforest and open grassland before climbing toward Lumley Hill. The left branch climbs through rainforest on natural root stairs. Either way, treat track times as flexible: heat, wet rock, and group pace add minutes quickly.
Safety and preparation
- Do not start late in the day; leave enough daylight for a slower descent
- Carry at least 2 litres of water per person in warm weather
- Wear sturdy shoes with grip; the track can be slippery when wet
- Insect repellent helps in still, humid conditions
- Mobile coverage is often usable, but do not rely on it as your only plan
